Reef Zlements S Sulfur (S / Sulfur / Sulphate) – Macro Elements
Sulfur is a macroelement that is abundant in all reefs of the world, mostly in the form of sulfate.
Although sulfur is a macronutrient typically replenished through water changes and the addition of sulfate-containing food or other supplements, sulfur levels can still decrease in the aquarium. Because sulfur is highly associated with bacterial activity, the presence of sulfur in much lower or higher concentrations than those normally found in seawater can lead to bacterial problems. When corals become diseased due to pathogenic bacterial activity (e.g., STN/RTN), it is important to check sulfur levels through ICP analysis and ensure they are within the ranges specified below.
Nevertheless, sulfur levels are not yet fully understood, and ideal values have yet to be determined. However, we recommend a sulfur level of 900 mg/l + -5% (i.e., 865-945 mg/l), which has been proven safe.
Reef Zlements S Sulphur, used in conjunction with a regular testing procedure, allows any aquarist to correct the sulfur levels to ensure that the sulfur level in their aquarium remains within the optimal range for their animals.
10 ml of Reef Zlements S Sulphur increases the sulfur concentration of 100 liters by ~3.5 mg/l.
